Your argument is witless: returning fire from a mass killer is the only thing that will stop him, dead. It is sheer stupidity to compare this to throwing water on a drowning person. Only those teachers competent enough to be of use, and willing to carry a gun would do so. I also think that your portrayal of school teachers is disrespectful of the vocation: not all school teachers are bumbling fools. Teachers have a duty of care for the children entrusted to them, so why not give them the tools they need to protect their children? What we are doing now is not working, and gun control is impossible.

The average school teacher would be a lot more use than Deputy Scot Peterson was, anyway.
