You are a cynical little person, aren’t you? Most white Americans are not racist, and don’t “support rich folks,” as you put it. They do support the principle of a meritocracy, where wealth is a reward for invention and hard work. They support equality of opportunity, not equality of outcome. In short, they support Capitalism, not Socialism. They know that a free country depends on freedom of speech, democracy and the sanctity of private property. People like you would have us “living in some socialist hell-hole where people had good wages, childcare, healthcare, and low debt.” The good wages wouldn’t buy anything because the shops would have empty shelves, the childcare and healthcare would be abysmal, and the debt would only be low because the Supreme Soviet had reneged on their debts. Capitalism creates wealth, Socialism destroys it. Most of us would rather live in a wealthy country, even if it is unevenly distributed than in one where wealth does not exist, and the poverty is equal for all.
