With apologies to German Lutheran pastor Martin Niemöller:
“First they came for the Socialists, and I did not speak out —
Because I was not a Socialist.
Then they came for the Trade Unionists, and I did not speak out —
Because I was not a Trade Unionist.
Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out —
Because I was not a Jew.”
Then they came for Svetlana, and I did not speak out —
Because I was not Svetlana.
“Then they came for me — and there was no one left to speak for me.”
Before you accuse me of over-reach, Niemöller’s piece was about the cowardice of German intellectuals following the Nazis’ rise to power and subsequent purging of their chosen targets, group after group.
This is about the cowardice of on-line intellectuals following the Progressive Censor’s rise to power and subsequent purging of their chosen targets, group after group. Don’t be the coward who didn’t speak up when they came for Svetlana!
If you value diversity, that includes diversity of opinion, and you don’t get that in a homogenised filtered echo chamber.
