Venezuela “Struck it Poor” because a Socialist Government insisted on Central Planning of the economy, something that never, ever works. Price and Wage controls followed leading to shortages of things people needed and oversupply of things noone wanted. That’s Socialism for you: Marx was an ignorant idiot, but at least he had the excuse that no-one had tried his moronic theories yet, so he didn’t know for sure that Communism was completely unworkable. He could claim that it seemed like a good idea at the time.

No-one can say that today. Everyone with a brain and a decade or two of life-experience knows that Socialism doesn’t work, and cannot ever work in the real world. Venezuela is yet another proof which we really didn’t need after Germany’s National Socialism, Russia’s Soviet Socialism, China’s Maoist Communism and Cambodia’s Pol Pot Socialism. All are Authoritarian dictatorships, because no elected government can enact Socialism without being voted out by angry taxpayers.

This attempt to blame Big Oil for what the Venezuelan government did to its people and its economy is pure propaganda, and obviously so. Hienrich Himmler would be proud of you!
