The US will remain a State (or 50 states) for at least the next Century, but change is coming. Perhaps by then it will be the United States of Mind.

I have great hopes for society, with automation, robotics and AI providing for all our physical needs, and allowing humanity to work almost entirely on art. On the other hand we may find that with automation, robotics and AI providing for all our physical needs, we have no purpose for staying alive,
