“The real problem of UBI is it operates within a capitalist framework.” I would have thought that was the only thing the UBI has going for it.

“Le Salaire à Vie seeks to suppress and ultimately delete profit altogether, transforming the incentive that drives the society. To escape capital we must suppress profit, not tax it.” That should read “Le Salaire à Vie seeks to suppress and ultimately delete profit altogether, removing the incentive that drives the society.” If you suppress profit, you suppress the creation of new wealth, and people will be paid from a dwindling GDP allotated by an army of paper-shuffling bureaucrats…what could possibly go wrong?

We have experimented with Socialist systems for over a Century, ruining lives and economies in a futile desire to make socialism work. Hitler, Stalin, Mao and Pol Pot all promised a Socialist Paradise, but delivered repressive, brutal Totalitarian regimes, all of which collapsed due to destruction of the profit motive. Only someone who refuses to learn from History would propose a Socialist economy today. It is now known that Socialism has never worked, can never work, and will never work. The most we can hope to acheive is a more ethical Capitalism that looks after the less fortunate in our Society. Capitalism is the only system for creating new wealth, Socialism only redistributes stolen wealth.
