Socialism has two main defining characteristics:

  1. Government Control of the means of production and distribution (Central Planning), and
  2. Suppression of all individual Freedom.

I acknowledge the vile nature of Nazism, but apart from the Nationalism and racism, the two defining conditions hold true, so Fascism is a sub-set of Socialism, not its opposite. Most economists regard Hitler’s Germany as a type of Socialist economy. Many historians have bought into the myth that Fscism is the opposite of Socialism, but that is just leftist marketing. propaganda. Hitler hated only those Socialists who did not acknowledge him as the Supreme Leader. Similar to Stalin’s hatred of Trotsky: he didn’t hate him for being a Socialist: he hated him for being competition.
