Political Correctness was given as just one example of attacks on personal freedoms. The question should have been “give me one example from history, where attacks on personal freedoms spiraled out of control into dictatorship.”

It is pretty clear, however, that a population scared to express dissent, lest they be branded as white extremists, islamophobes or worse, and disarmed by gun controls is less able to resist a coup d’etat.
