“ Meanwhile, men make up only 10% of nurses, only 20% of new veterinarians, only 25% of new psychologists, about 25% of new paediatricians, about 26% of forensic scientists, about 28% of medical managers, and 42% of new biologists.”
Have you considered the possibility that around 2003 women realised that computers will soon be programming themselves, and computer programmers will be redundant by 2025 or so?
That just means they are smarter than men and realise that humans will always need Nurses, Vets, psychologists, paediatricians, forensic scientists, medical managers and biologists, long after coding has been automated. The 21st Century is likely to be the century of biology, if you accept that the 19th Century was largely about Chemistry (think Coal), and the 20th Century was dominated by Physics. This means DNA-based cures for many diseases, so the century of medical advances as well.
As usual, the girls are onto something here. It probably doesn’t hurt that these occupations are about caring for other people and animals, so attract the nurturing sex in greater numbers.
