Many Democrats support unlimited illegal immigration so that they can pay their gardeners and maids less than the minimum wage: being illegals, they can’t complain that they are being underpaid.
If carpenters, bricklayers and roofers are losing their jobs because they are being under-cut by illegal workers willing to work for less than the award rates, surely that is a good reason to close our borders to illegal immigrants. I would support a temporary work visa arrangement for seasonal workers to harvest fruit and vegetables for growers if Americans do not want the work. This aids the farmer by allowing his crops to be harvested, the consumer by providing more fruit and vegetables at lower prices, and the temporary immigrant by giving him a chance to earn far more than the wages in his home country.
So Trump is right to reduce illegal immigration, so that more targeted legal migration can occur, including temporary visas for seasonal workers. What is wrong with that?
