Humans are top predators: we evolved intelligence in part because of the high-protein diet enabled by eating meat, and in part because of the need to communicate and cooperate in the hunt. All that has happened since the hunter-gatherer nomadic lifestyle was replaced by agriculture, is that we have made the “hunt” much easier for us, and much kinder to the animals through humane slaughter methods. In exchange for being eaten after a painless slaughter, the domesticated animal gets a life free of disease, hunger and being ripped to pieces by predators. The only remaining cruelty to animals in the west is through so-called organic farming where animals are denied drenching for worms, dipping for fleas, and antibiotics for disease. These animals do suffer and produce an inferior product, but it is still probably better than life in the wild. Does your vegan realise that taking meat out of our diet, if everyone did so, would result in the eradication of domesticated animals to make way for crops. No farmer could afford to keep the animals alive if there was no market for their meat. Vegans are the greatest threat to these animals’ right to exist.
Anyway, you over-argued it: Just tell Vegans that “if God didn’t want us to eat Animals, He wouldn’t have made them out of meat!”
