Given that Ice Ages arrive every 100,000 years on average, climate change clearly does not take millions of years. Ice Ages can start very quickly: woolly Mammoths with bellies full of spring flowers were blast-frozen while running South in Russia to escape the sudden cold.
Science has yet to establish the cause of the warming that ended past Ice Ages, but it certainly wasn’t fossil fuel combustion. The warming occurred anyway, and was typically 3 degrees Celcius warmer than today during the interglacial period. It is interesting that the normal inter-glacial temperature is now deemed to be Catastrophic if it returns. All it will mean is the end of the current Ice Age.
