Excommunicated, indeed!

All of these quotes are from the old Testament, also known as the Torah: It is as much a History of the Hebrew race and their relationship with God, as it is the word of God. That history has many bloody episodes in it, but to Christians it is mainly important for the prophecies throughout the old testament predicting the life of Jesus Christ. The correct interpretation is that the Bible contains the word of God, rather than that it is the word of God.

The word of God is now found in the New Testament, the old Testament now having been rendered obsolete by the life, teachings and resurrection of Jeshua Ben Joseph, whom we now call Jesus Christ.

It is also a bit precious judging the acts of people thousands of years ago by the moral standards of today, which were unknown at the time. Ironically, most of our modern standards of ethics, tolerance and kindness to others are based on the teachings of Jesus Christ.
