Boosting coal use at home and undermining the Paris climate deal abroad is completely the right thing to do. The Science of Global warming simply does not stack up: CO2 is less than 400 ppm of our atmosphere; that is only 0.04%. That is 4% of 1% of the air we breath, a tiny trace gas, yet vital to all plant life, and therefore vital to all life on Earth. Life is carbon-based, yet for millions of years nature has been sequestering millions of tonnes of Carbon underground, where it is no longer available to feed living things, starving itself of a scarce resource. Or perhaps a kindly nature has been storing solar power in Carbon batteries so that when humanity was ready, it could recover the stored energy, and at the same time release life-giving CO2 back into the Carbon Cycle for the benefit of nature and human agriculture. The perfect Solar Power storage system already exists: it is called coal. Coal is just solar energy captured by photosynthesis, then put into long-term storage.
Defining CO2 as a pollutant is the single most stupid thing the EPA has ever done: it is an unscientific lie. The more CO2 in the atmosphere, the more benefit to nature and humanity. We know that the natural world thrived on 7000 ppm, yet we are supposed to panic at 400 ppm? This doesn’t make sense, and the predicted climate disasters have failed to appear, with temperature rises levelling off at a puny 0.6°C above the long-term average. That is nothing to worry about. The sea is rising at the same rate as it has for the last 10,000 years since the end of the last ice age, and that is a good thing: if the sea were to recede, it would mean the Ice Age was coming back, a far worse threat than a bit of harmless warming.
The Paris Agreement was non-binding, so Trump doesn’t need to withdraw from it, just ignore it. He should do so, and de-fund any Climate Alarmist research too. The EPA should go back to fighting real pollution: Global Warming has taken the World’s eye off serious pollution of rivers, groundwater and the atmosphere in third world countries who desperately need clean air, clean water and healthy food, not a stupid crusade against Carbon.
